Is it possible to make a living telling stories? How do small businesses make their way in the media world? We’re about to find out.
StoryMineMedia is an idea that we started batting around while we were in grad school. For two years we attended dozens of guest lectures and workshops and heard two very clear and very different messages. On the one side, we were being told that journalism as we know it is falling down around us, and we are all doomed. On the other side, the movers and shakers of the world (Chad Stevens, Bob Sacha, Brian Storm, Richard Koci Hernandez, to name a few) were imploring us not to give up.
This is an exciting time to be a storyteller. The industry is being given a chance to create sustainable models for the new media landscape and help pave the way for the next generation. We’re feeling our way as we go and learning from those who have come before us.
So here we go.
