The UN OCHA (United Nations Office for the Coordination of Human Affairs) Pastoralist Communication Initiative works with pastoralists in the Horn of Africa to foster communication and innovation. I was fortunate enough to photograph one of their gatherings in Yabello, Ethiopia. Four hundred pastoralists from Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Somaliland, Puntland, Djibouti and Sudan will met to discuss the viability and significance of pastoralism in the Greater Horn of Africa, the roots of conflicts, and exchange information on trade and innovation.
