In preparation for my graduate work, I spent two months in Guatemala studying Spanish and living with two lovely host families in Antigua and Quetzaltenango (Xela).
The language immersion I had during this experience improved my ability to work with the North Carolina Latino community on my graduate thesis, Dreams Delayed, a multimedia documentary project about access to higher education for undocumented students.
