Research shows that students tend to lose interest in the sciences in middle school. BOOST is a STEM enrichment program that makes science fun and accessible. To date, BOOST has served over 500 Durham Public School students with the help of Durham Public School teachers, Duke University graduate and undergraduate students and faculty, Duke University School of Medicine, and a host of other community organizations.
The program serves groups underrepresented in the professional sciences including African American, Latino/a, Native American, female, and students from economically challenged communities.
